Which De-icer should I use?
Sand: Provides no snow melting abilities. At best sand will provide limited traction. Sand requires clean up in the spring, studies have shown sand to be dangerous to the environment and in some locations not permitted.
Salt: Most effective and most affordable but will cause the most damage to your property and the environment, salt can also leave white residue and dust on the hardscapes.
Liquid De-icer: As the technology progresses and becomes more affordable more and more customers are using liquid products. There are many benefits to liquid; products are much more environmentally friendly than sand or salt, some products are pet friendly, real estate friendly, ,people friendly, and some even less corrosive than water. Liquid de-icer can be applied more efficiently and to confined spaces because it is sprayed on with various types of hoses and nozzles, whereas granular de-icers (sand/salt) are mechanically dispersed. Please contact a snow and ice professional to discuss further.
Pre-treatment Services
We have several pretreatment products that we offer. These applications are most beneficial in highly trafficked areas, and areas prone to ice. Pretreatment is applied 24 hours before the storm and will act as a barrier between the snow, ice, and hardscapes. The product will melt snow, prevent snow and ice from adhering to the hardscapes. Once the area is plowed or shoveled there will be a significant difference is the quality of the job.
